Living in Arnprior

Small-town life where two rivers meet.

What daily life is really like in Arnprior: the downtown, the waterfront, the recreation, and the honest trade-offs.

Downtown & everyday

A walkable historic core

Arnprior’s downtown runs along John and Madawaska streets, with independent shops, cafés, and the Arnprior & District Museum, all within a walkable heritage core. It’s the kind of main street where people still know your name.
Parks & recreation

On the water, in the trees

Robert Simpson Park gives Arnprior a beach, marina, and trails right on the Ottawa River. The Nick Smith Centre covers indoor rec with two ice pads and a pool, and Gillies Grove (home to Ontario’s tallest tree) offers old-growth trails minutes from downtown.

Getting around

Arnprior sits about 65 km west of Ottawa via Highway 417: close enough to commute or reach the city’s shopping and airport, far enough to feel like the country.

The honest part

For big-box shopping and major services you’ll head toward Kanata or Ottawa. That’s the trade-off for river-town life, and for many of our buyers, it’s an easy one.
