Kanata is the largest and most urban of the communities we serve: an established Ottawa tech city on the west side of the 417. It’s home to Canada’s biggest technology park, the Canadian Tire Centre, its own town centre, and a full range of neighbourhoods, from Bill Teron’s 1960s garden-city streets in Beaverbrook to the executive homes of Kanata Lakes.
The character

The city that tech built

Kanata was farmland in old March Township until the 1960s, when planner Bill Teron laid out a nature-oriented “garden city”, and Beaverbrook was the first neighbourhood. In 1972 Mitel was founded here, and by 1980 Ottawa had earned the nickname Silicon Valley North. Today Kanata North is Canada’s largest technology park, and Kanata has grown into a city of distinct communities (Beaverbrook, Kanata Lakes, Bridlewood, Katimavik-Hazeldean, Glen Cairn and newer north-end builds) anchored by the Kanata Town Centre and the Canadian Tire Centre.
Homes

Homes in Kanata

Kanata spans the widest range of any market we serve: mature garden-city homes on Beaverbrook’s tree-lined streets, family subdivisions in Bridlewood and Katimavik, executive properties in Kanata Lakes, and new construction in the growing north end near the tech park. It’s Ottawa’s established west-end market. Pricing generally runs above the rural Valley towns, and well-priced homes move quickly.
