The character

A village that grew up

Founded in the 1850s and named for postmaster Jackson Stitt, Stittsville was a farming village of a few hundred until the Queensway put Ottawa within easy reach. Then it grew from under 500 people to a suburb of 20,000+ in about 25 years. Through all of it, the community held onto its village identity: Main Street is still the heart, Village Square Park marks the old railway station, and the Stittsville Village Association keeps the small-town spirit alive.
