Living in Kanata

Neighbourhoods
A city of distinct communities
Kanata isn’t one neighbourhood. It’s a collection of them, each with its own feel: Beaverbrook’s mature, walkable garden-city streets; the family subdivisions of Bridlewood and Katimavik-Hazeldean; the executive homes and protected greenspace of Kanata Lakes; and the newer builds growing in the north end near the tech park. The Kanata Town Centre gives the whole area a real downtown.
Recreation & family
Built for families
Kanata is wrapped in green space: NCC greenbelt, the Beaver Pond and Kanata Lakes trail networks, golf courses, and major recreation complexes. Add the Canadian Tire Centre for Senators games and big concerts, plus the shops and cinema at the Centrum, and there’s always something to do close to home.
Getting around
For many residents the commute is short by design; thousands work right in Kanata North’s tech park. Highway 417 puts downtown Ottawa roughly 25–30 minutes away off-peak, and the west-end road and transit network keeps improving.
The honest part
Kanata is our most urban and highest-priced market, busier and more expensive than the rural Valley towns, with rush-hour traffic on the 417 and ongoing construction in the growing north end. For buyers who want an established west-end city with jobs, amenities and green space, it’s a fair trade.
